The Basics

When Your Business Needs a New or Expanded Authorization

Licensing and registration support helps firms preparing to enter a regulated market and existing businesses seeking additional permissions. The application requirements depend on what the firm will do, where it will operate, and how its personnel, finances, systems, and service providers support those activities. InnReg coordinates the application work around those requirements and dependencies.

Preparing to launch a business that requires registration, licensing, or regulatory membership

Expanding into jurisdictions or activities that require additional permissions

Changing ownership, control, or operations in a way that requires an application or approval

Preparing an application or addressing outstanding requests during regulatory review

The Basics

Explore Our Licensing and Registration Services

Select the service that matches your proposed activities. Each page explains the relevant application process and how InnReg supports it. A business may need more than one registration or license, and federal registration, state licensing, and regulatory membership can involve separate requirements.

Broker-Dealer Registration

Support with SEC and state broker-dealer registration and FINRA membership, including application materials, required personnel, operating arrangements, and responses during review. Existing firms can also receive support with qualifying changes that require FINRA approval.

Investment Adviser Registration

Support with SEC or state investment adviser registration, related disclosures, and applicable notice filings or investment adviser representative registrations. The scope reflects the adviser’s eligibility, services, personnel, and geographic footprint.

Money Transmitter Licensing and FinCEN MSB Registration

Support with applicable state money transmitter license applications and FinCEN money services business registration. These are distinct processes: FinCEN registration does not provide state authorization to conduct money transmission.

Lender Licensing

Support with lending and related license applications based on the credit products, jurisdictions, and activities involved. The scope can address lending, brokering, servicing, or mortgage requirements where relevant to the firm’s role.

Funding Portal Registration

Support with SEC funding portal registration and FINRA funding portal membership for intermediaries operating under Regulation Crowdfunding. The engagement addresses application materials, platform workflows, and regulatory review of the proposed activities.

CFTC Registration and NFA Membership

Support with applicable CFTC registration and NFA membership processes for derivatives businesses. The scope reflects the relevant registration categories, firm and individual requirements, disclosures, and supporting materials.

Depending on the application, the work can include a filing plan, completed forms, business and operating narratives, coordinated supporting documents, and responses to regulatory requests. Program development and ongoing compliance services are defined separately in the engagement.

Our Scope

How the Engagement Works

01

Confirm the Application Scope

We review the proposed activities, entities, jurisdictions, and regulatory pathway, then identify the applications, personnel, supporting materials, and dependencies included in the engagement.

02

Prepare the Required Materials

We prepare application forms and narratives, coordinate supporting documents, and review their consistency with the business model. Your team supplies required information, decisions, signatures, and specialist materials.

03

Submit and Support Regulatory Review

We coordinate submission of the agreed applications, track regulator requests, and prepare responses or amendments. Where applicable, we help relevant personnel prepare for interviews, meetings, or system demonstrations.

04

Address Conditions and Next Steps

We support application-related conditions and document the resulting status, permissions, restrictions, and remaining actions. We coordinate the handoff of ongoing obligations to the responsible team.

Why InnReg

Why Work With InnReg on Licensing and Registration?

Experience Across Regulatory Pathways

InnReg has supported financial services firms since 2013. Our work across brokerage, investment advisory, payments, and lending informs how we organize applications involving different regulators, business models, and operating requirements.

Applications Grounded in the Business

We connect application materials to the proposed products, customers, revenue model, transaction flows, and service providers. This helps your team present a consistent account of the activities and arrangements under review.

Coordination Across Contributors

Applications often depend on management, counsel, accountants, designated personnel, and external providers. A dedicated project lead coordinates requests, dependencies, and open decisions so contributors understand what is needed from them.

Attention to Supporting Materials

We review the relationship between forms, business narratives, financial information, and required program documents. Inconsistencies and missing inputs are brought back to the appropriate contributors before or during the submission process.

Support During Regulatory Review

InnReg helps organize regulatory questions, prepare responses, and coordinate supplemental materials. When an interview or demonstration is part of the process, we work with the people responsible for explaining the proposed business.

A Defined Transition Into Operations

Application outcomes can carry conditions and continuing obligations. We help document those items and coordinate their handoff, with program development, recurring management, or officer appointments included where separately agreed.
